About the IRC
Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognised technology leader and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. We are building an industry-recognised multi-disciplinary Research Centre of experts focusing on medium-term to long-term issues to achieve this. The IRC will work closely with an open, innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.
About IO&M Lab
The IO&M Lab in Huawei Ireland Research Centre is seeking a highly motivated and talented intern to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge research in Autonomous Networking. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply any of the following skills to solve real-world problems in IP network management: networking, graph, modelling, DSL creation/parsing, model transformation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AI assistant & Copilot, LLM on top of relational DBs, big data computation.
About the Role
You will be working with the senior team members on researching and developing intelligent systems that can help with automating management and control of complex IP networks. This includes working on one or more of the following:
Developing DSLs for computation, topologies and model mapping
NetDevOps
Developing Graph engines / processors
Utilizing AI assistants for Defining Models, Computation and Model Mappings using the High-Level DSLs.
Modelling and Building Digital Map of the network and its services
Utilizing Infrastructure as a Code methods
Responsibilities
Research candidate approaches for the selected problems
Prototype, test and debug
Document your work and present findings to the team
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field
Strong interest in DSLs, NetDevOps, graph data, and AI assistants
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
Experience with graph databases and query languages is a plus
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills
