About the Ireland Research Center
Ireland Research Center's mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and a global provider of system solutions for terminal and computing devices, in the cloud or telecom infrastructure. To achieve this, we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts with a focus on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open, innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.
About The Role
Huawei Ireland Advanced Language Engineering (ADA) lab is committed to develop memory safe and concurrent system products. As part of this strategic goal, we will explore advanced language features and disruptive approaches to accelerate Compute generally, and AI specifically. Depending on the use cases, however, there is a number of engineering trade-offs to bring competitiveness to the product line with innovation.
We are looking for an active Researcher to join us to tackle such challenges. You will provide technical leadership in System Architecture, Programming Languages & Compiler, and/or Software Engineering, that is spearheading Huawei’s engineering capability. For example, you will be the person shaping the next generation programming language features for Huawei Compute products and leading (and guiding the direction of) the work that impacts tens of thousands of software engineers at Huawei.
If you are passionate about engineering programming frameworks for hardware accelerators, enjoy challenging the status of quo, and solve problems at ultra-large-scale in terms of both the size of codebase (billions of lines of code) and the number of engineers (tens of thousands of engineers), this is the opportunity for you. This opportunity is truly unique, you will be working with the world-leading colleagues in the community with language, compiler, library, and development tool expertise. You probably would never find an opportunity to make such a huge impact in this area at such a large scale and diverse software development environment anywhere else on this planet.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of PoCs for the next-generation memory safe and performant features of XPU accelerators to tackle real-world problems in mobile and compute systems.
- Provide directions and guidance to the company’s programming tool offerings in the area of Rust, Triton, Dynamo etc.
Desired Experience & Skills
- PhD in the area of XPU (GPU, NPU, TPU) programming, Operating System/System Architecture, Programming Languages, Software Engineering.
- Experience of working with accelerator kernel development.
- World leading experts in the area of programming languages, deep knowledge of best practices, methods, approaches in XPU and extensive experience of architecting, designing, building a safe and efficient programming language, especially knows the following aspects inside out:
- GPU, TPU, NPU accelerators
- High-performance language features
- Compiler and high-performance library implementations
- Up to 10% travel to China.
